MORGANTOWN òòò½ÊÓƵ” JJ Quinerly of the West Virginia University womenòòò½ÊÓƵ™s basketball team was the 27th pick in the third round of the 2025 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings.
Quinerly becomes the 11th player in Mountaineers history to be drafted by a WNBA team and is the first since 2021, when Kysre Gondrezick was selected fourth by the Indiana Fever.
The native of Norfolk, Virginia finished her West Virginia career with 2,016 points. She is the first player in Mountaineers history to finish with more than 2,000 points and more than 300 rebounds, steals and assists.
During her senior campaign, Quinerly became the 14th òòò½ÊÓƵU player to be named an All-American after garnering honorable mention status by the òòò½ÊÓƵsociated Press and Womenòòò½ÊÓƵ™s Basketball Coaches òòò½ÊÓƵsociation.
She also became the first finalist in òòò½ÊÓƵU history for the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year and is the fourth Mountaineer to be unanimously selected to the All-Big 12 first team and just the third to earn the distinction twice.
She was also named the conferenceòòò½ÊÓƵ™s defensive player of the year for the second straight season.
Quinerly ranks No. 3 all-time at òòò½ÊÓƵU in points scored (2,016) and No. 5 all-time in scoring average (16.00). Her 20.38 points per game average in 2024-25 marks just the fifth time a Mountaineer has finished a season averaging 20 points per game and is the first since 1992. Her 328 career steals ranks third and her 2.6 steals per game ranks fourth all-time.
