A former Ohio Miss Basketball finalist signed with Marshall University womenƵs basketball team Saturday.
Emily Bratton, a 5-foot-7 rising sophomore guard, transferred to the Thundering Herd from Miami (Ohio) where she averaged 2.8 points, 1.0 rebound and 0.6 assists in 18 games. She scored a season-best 14 points against Tiffin, nine points against Kent State and grabbed six rebounds versus Dayton.
Marshall coach Juli Fulks said Bratton is an impactful pickup.

Bratton was one of eight finalists for the Miss Basketball Award. A two-time Central District Division II and District 11 Coaches Ƶsociation player of the year at Bloom-Carroll High School, she was a three-time Mid-State League Buckeye Division player of the year. Bratton averaged 23.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 4.7 steals and shot 46 percent from the field. She made 43% of her 3-point shots and 86% at the free throw line for a 20-5 district champion.
Bratton scored 1,719 points with 236 three-point goals, both program records. BrattonƵs career averages were 18.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.4 steals. She was selected for the Ohio North-South all-star game.
Fulks said Bratton, who also was a college prospect as a tennis player, features qualities beyond natural talent.
