HUNTINGTON Ƶ Marshall UniversityƵs pep band might play ƵOn WisconsinƵ at the Thundering HerdƵs womenƵs basketball game on Sunday.
The song would be a thank you to the University of Wisconsin, which snapped up Carter McCray away from Northern Kentucky in the transfer portal in the offseason. The then-freshman scored 25 points and grabbed 21 rebounds to lead the Norse to a 76-66 victory over Marshall last season in Highland Heights, Kentucky.
The Herd (0-1) entertains Northern Kentucky (0-2) at 1 p.m. Sunday in MarshallƵs home opener at Cam Henderson Center. The Herd is coming off a 71-68 loss Monday at Toledo. The Norse have fallen 79-58 at home to Middle Tennessee State and 70-41 at Kentucky.

Marshall features junior guard C.C. Mays, who scored 20 points against the Rockets. Aislynn Hayes scored 11 and Meredith Maier 10. They were joined in the starting lineup by Madison Kellione and TreShondra Williams.
Northern Kentucky has struggled on offense. Only one player, graduate student guard Halle Odowu, averages on double figures. Odowu scores 10.5 points per game, having scored 18 against Middle Tennessee and three versus Kentucky. Anna Hebron, a 5-foot-5 freshman, averaged a team-best 5.5 rebounds a game.
The Norse likely will have some extra fans in the arena supporting from George Washington High School all-state Kalissa Lacy. The 5-9 senior guard transferred to Northern Kentucky from Eastern Kentucky last season and averaged 4.3 points and 1.7 rebounds a game. This season, Lacy has cracked the starting lineup and averages 6.0 points and 2.5 rebounds. She scored two points against Middle Tennessee and 10 versus Kentucky.
