89-year-old Rev. Jim Lewis was arrested along with five others, including two Charleston city councilmembers, after a sit-in in the United Building on Virginia Street East in Charleston, West Virginia on June 25, 2025, shortly after beginning a sit-in protest outside the office of Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.

The protestors want Capito to vote against the Trump administration's Big Beautiful Budget Bill, which is being debated by the U.S. Senate.
