Marshall University picked up a new quarterback transfer on Sunday.
Former Syracuse passer Carlos Del-Rio Wilson is expected to sign with the Thundering Herd as first reported by Matt Zenitz of 247sports.
Del-Rio Wilson, an Atlanta native, was a four-star prospect coming out of high school and initially signed with Florida. After transferring to Syracuse in 2022, he served as a backup quarterback. Del-Rio Wilson had his career-high in the second half of a matchup with Notre Dame in 2022, totaling 190 yards and his first passing TD.
In his career, his passing numbers are 48-for-102 for 624 yards and four touchdowns. Heòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s also picked up a touchdown and 148 yards on 46 rushes.
Del-Rio WIlson joins fellow QB commit Zion Turner, formerly of Jacksonville State, as another potential dual threat under center. He did not play in 2024 as a redshirt sophomore.
PORTAL PICKUPS: Punter Ian Ratliff also announced his commitment online. Ratliff was a sophomore specialist for Texas last season. On eight punts in college, he has a long of 52 and averages 44 yards per attempt.
Ratliff was ranked a top-25 punter nationally as a high school recruit.
SOFTBALL GETS NATIONAL RECOGNITION: On Monday, Marshall announced junior infielder Brooklyn Ulrich is the 84th-ranked player in NCAA Division I softball in Mondayòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s D100 player rankings.
Ulrich led the Herd last season with a .349 average on 69 hits. She led the Sun Belt Conference with 48 runs batted in.
THUNDERING BENGALS: Along with the recent signing of former Marshall defensive back Micah Abraham to a reserve/future contract, the Cincinnati Bengals have extended the same to Tashawn Manning, the son of former Marshall offensive lineman Buck Manning.
Buck was a star for the Herd in the early 1990s. The younger Manning, a guard, played at Kentucky and Auburn before signing with the Baltimore Ravens last season.
WOODSòòò½ÊÓÆµ™ SON TO 49ERS: Tyler Woods, son of former Marshall offensive lineman Pete Woods, was hired by the Charlotte 49ers as assistant director of player personnel.
Pete Woods was a senior on the Herdòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s 1992 NCAA Division I-AA national champion and is the athletic director at West Muskingum High School in Zanesville, Ohio.
RECORD-SETTING DAY FOR TRACK: Marshall had an incredible showing in its first action of 2025 with 23 individual first-place finishes in the Marshall Alumni Classic at the Chris Cline Athletic Facility last week.
Addison Painter broke his own record for the long jump at 7.58 meters. Itòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s the third-best mark among all Division I athletes.
Kylee Mastin also broke her former teammate Abby Herringòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s 1K record in 2:51.30.
Haleigh Crum, Mastin, Brynn McKeever, Rebecca Merritt, Alayezia Williams and AJ Young each won multiple events as Marshall had a record 102 scorers in the meet.
SWIM SWEEPS BOWLING GREEN: Marshall swimming and diving (5-1) swept with a 161-139 win on Saturday.
Kseniia Luniushina, Paige Banton, Madeline Hart and Audrey West helped the Herd pick up a win in the 200 medley relay in 1:43.78.
Molly Warner won the 200 free in 1:52.08 and tied for first in the 200 IM. Marshallòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s 200 free relay tied to the wall in 1:36.15 òòò½ÊÓÆµ” led by West, Hart, Nina Nugent and Parker Lynch.
Banton swept the 100 and 200 breaststroke events while Luniushina took the 100 and 200 backstroke and the 50 free. Hart also won the 100 and 200 fly.
Grace Kelsheimer won the 1m dive with a 275.93 and finished second on the 3m boards with a 272.55.
