The only player in the country with 17 sacks is Green.
An All-American defensive end, Green has declared for the NFL Draft. He made 84 tackles, 22.5 for lost yardage, this season to help the Thundering Herd to a 10-3 record and the Sun Belt Conference championship. Green, a 6-foot-4, 248-pound sophomore from Williamsburg, Virginia, broke up two passes, forced three fumbles and recovered one.
CBS Sports projected Green as a first-round draft pick last week.
THOMPSON DECLARES: Marshall defensive lineman RaƵQuan Thompson declared for the NFL Draft.
A 6-3, 291-pound graduate student from Killeen, Texas, made 20 tackles, three for lost yardage, and two sacks this season.

PENNINGTON BACK IN PORTAL: Former Marshall quarterback Cole Pennington is back in the transfer portal.
Pennington, a 6-3, 209-pound sophomore from Versailles, Kentucky, announced Dec. 12 he was transferring to South Dakota.
ƵDue to unforeseen circumstance, I have re-entered the transfer portal and my recruitment is 100% open,Ƶ Pennington said.
A rising junior and son of former Marshall and NFL star Chad Pennington, Cole Pennington completed 69 of 119 passes for 752 yards and one touchdown with six interceptions with the Herd.
Cole Pennington said heƵs received offers from Albany and Southern Utah since reentering the portal Saturday.
MORRISON TO BE DC: reported safeties coach Shannon Morrison will be the Herd’s defensive coordinator.
Morrison starred for Marshall in the early 1990s. He has served as a defensive coordinator at Bowling Green, Cincinnati, Hampden-Sydney, Lehigh and Southeast Missouri State.
Former Marshall quarterback Jackson White also has been tapped as special teams coordinator. White played for the Herd from 2016 through 2020. White was a special teams assistant and quality control coach at North Carolina State with new Herd coach Tony Gibson.
Bob McClain, a former West Virginia, Illinois, Tulsa, Appalachian State, Lenoir-Rhyne, Glenville State, California (Pennsylvania) and Michigan assistant, has been tapped to coach the offensive line.
Former ƵU safety Dayron Wilson also is listed as a support staff hire, with his role to be announced.
RECRUITING ROUNDUP: Jacksonville State quarterback Zion Turner said Marshall has offered him.
Turner threw one pass last season, completing it for 3 yards.
Turner transferred from Connecticut, where as a freshman he completed 149 of 258 passes for 1,407 yards and nine touchdowns. Turner also ran 90 times for 262 yards and one touchdown.
Out of St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Miami, Turner was offered scholarships by Miami (Florida), Texas A&M, Louisville, LSU, Arkansas, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Jacksonville State, Temple and Coastal Carolina.
TurnerƵs teammate with the Gamecocks, safety KyƵwon McCray, said he picked up an offer from the Herd.
A native of Baltimore, McCray, 6-4, 200 pounds, played in 13 games last season, making 62 tackles, 4.5 for lost yards, and 1.5 sacks with one interception.
Youngstown State offensive lineman Wyatt Minor said Marshall has offered him A 6-6, 315-pound rising sophomore, Minot is from Clarksburg, West Virginia, and played at Robert C. Byrd High School.
Northern Iowa running back Tye Edwards, 6-4, 220, said Marshall offered him. Edwards also played at Texas-San Antonio and Florida Atlantic during his college career. Out of high school, Edwards owned offers from Oregon, Florida State, Toledo, Auburn, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Baylor, Georgia, Alabama and Temple.
Edwards carried 157 times for 1,012 yards and six touchdowns last season. He caught 13 passes for 77 yards and one touchdown.
BIAGI HONORED: Former Marshall kicker Marty Biagi, an assistant coach at Notre Dame, was named the ƵtroTurfUSA special teams coordinator of the year.
Biagi played for the Herd from 2004 through 2008.
