CANNONSBURG, Ky. Ƶ Aubrey Moore scored three goals and made two assists on Monday to lead Boyd County (5-1) to an 8-0 victory over Bath County (1-4) in girls high school soccer.
Faith Burnside scored a trio of goals and handed out one assist. Gracie Crow added one goal and one assist. Vivianne Allen chipped in one goal. Sophia Stevens made two saves.
Boys soccer
FAIRLAND 4, PORTSMOUTH WEST 2: Daniel Monge scored twice to help the Dragons (1-2) defeat the Senators (0-3) at Jim Mayo Memorial Stadium in Rome Township, Ohio.
Monge scored at 27:02 and 28:33 to give Fairland a 2-0 lead. Trevor Lochow found the back of the net at 56:22 for a 3-0 advantage. Portsmouth West pulled with 3-1 before Jonathan Nida scored for the Dragons. The Senators added a late goal to set the score.
Volleyball
ALL ƵAƵ CLASSIC: Raceland (3-3) won three of four matches on Saturday in the 16th Region All ƵAƵ Classic high school volleyball tournament at Fairview High School.
The Rams beat Fairview (2-3) twice 2-1, lost to Menifee County 2-0 and beat West Carter 2-0. The Wildcats are 1-2. The Comets are 4-1.
Bryna Wellman made 29 digs in the opener. Allayson Rigsby had 16 kills and 14 digs. Peyton Mackie made 14 kills.
Also in the tournament, West Carter beat Rose Hill Christian 2-0 and Morgan County 2-1.
ASHLAND 3, ROSE HILL CHRISTIAN 0: The Volleycats improved to 5-0 with a sweep of the Royals.
Ƶhland won 25-6, 25-8, 25-6. Rose Hill Christian fell to 0-5.
GALLIA ACADEMY 3, RIVER VALLEY 0: Gracyn Clark made 20 assists to lead the Blue Angels to a 25-17, 25-17, 25-16 victory over the Raiders in Bidwell, Ohio.
Ryen Nunn led Gallia Academy (3-1) in kills with nine. Clark added three aces.
Karsyn George had seven kills and three assists for River Valley (0-2).
BOYD COUNTY 3, LEWIS COUNTY 0: Baylee Moore turned in 27 digs and Laura Chaffin 22 assists as Boyd County (1-1) won the battle of Lions in Vanceburg, Kentucky.
Payton Jones made 12 kills for Boyd County.
Lewis County dipped to 1-4.
LAWRENCE COUNTY 3, MAGOFFIN COUNTY 0: Aryn Huffman issued 16 assists and Grace Blevins 15 as the Bulldogs (3-0) beat the Hornets (0-4) in Louisa, Kentucky.
Emma Collins contributed 12 kills for Lawrence County.
TIME CHANGES: Some local high school teams have changed game times this week in response to anticipated high temperatures.
Football games featuring Spring Valley at South Point, Fairland at Point Pleasant, and Ironton at Jackson have been changed from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
