HURRICANE, W.Va. òòò½ÊÓƵ” Griffin Dempsey lined a single to left field to score Tyler Baxter with the winning run in a 3-2 victory over Parkersburg South Saturday in the upper bracket of the Class AAAA Region 4 high school baseball tournament.
The Redskins (24-5) advance to the best-of-three region finals against lower bracket winner Spring Valley, scheduled to begin May 27.
The Patriots led 2-0 in the third inning before Bryson Shirkey and Baxter each knocked in a run to tie it.
SOUTHEASTERN 6, IRONTON ST. JOE 5: The Panthers (12-10) took advantage of nine walks and three Flyers (10-6) errors to win in Chillicothe, Ohio.
St. Joe led 5-4 before Southeastern rallied for one run in the fourth inning and another in the fifth.
Joey Pfiefer hit a home run for the Panthers. Brayden Burns earned the win.
For the Flyers, Beckham Waginger went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles. Wes Neal was 2 for 4 with two runs batted in.
WHEELERSBURG 10, SYMMES VALLEY 4: Cooper Heimbach drove in three runs to help the Pirates (15-6) beat the Vikings (15-9) in Aid, Ohio.
Symmes Valley led 1-0 but Wheelersburg scored the next seven runs to take control.
Tanner Thompson knocked home two runs for the Vikings. Bronx Carpenter went 2 for 3.
WAHAMA 2, SHERMAN 0: Aden Young pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out seven, as the White Falcons edged the Tide in the Class A Region 4 tournament in Mason, West Virginia.
Hayden Lloyd and Eli Rickard drove in runs.
GREENUP COUNTY 6, BATH COUNTY 5: Madison Ross and Addison Branhim each batted in two runs in the Musketeersòòò½ÊÓƵ™ victory over the Wildcats in Lloyd, Kentucky.
Laela Matthews was 2 for 4 for Greenup County. Laiken Cooper was the winning pitcher. Josie Kegley picked up a save.
Avery Baber and Ally Manley each drove in two runs for Bath County.
