Nate McPeek and Luke Salmons hugged at midfield during warmups Friday and the embrace was more than just between friendly coaches.
Salmons and McPeek are Herd brothers, former teammates and offensive linemen at Marshall University. McPeekƵs Frederick Douglass Broncos football team beat SalmonsƵ Corbin Redhounds 35-14 in Lexington, Kentucky.
McPeek said he was Ƶhonored and blessedƵ to coach against Salmons, who took the Corbin job this season after 13 years at Cabell Midland. Salmons returned the compliment, congratulating McPeek on his Marshall Athletics Hall of Fame inductions set for Friday.
Salmons and McPeek are part of five former Thundering Herd stars coaching strong programs in the Bluegrass State. Chad Pennington is head coach at Sayre, Melvin Cunningham at Murray and Joey Chirico at George Rogers Clark.
