The Ironton High School football team takes on Fairland on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Tanks Memorial Stadium in Ironton.

Fairland versus Ironton means nothing anymore as far as Ohio Valley Conference football titles go, but the high school football game has tremendous value as far as playoff points.

The Dragons (7-0, 15.0037 points) are No. 1 in Ohioòòò½ÊÓƵ™s Division V, Region 19 of the OHSAA computer ratings. The Fighting Tigers (6-1, 12.539) are fourth. The teams, former OVC foes, meet at 7 p.m. Friday at Jim Mayo Memorial Stadium in Rome Township, Ohio. The winner will stock up a bonanza of points, which determine playoff seedings.
