Former Spring Valley High School football standout Will Adkins was named the Mountain East Conference offensive player of the week Tuesday.
Adkins, a quarterback with Fairmont State University, completed 24 of 36 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns in the FalconsƵ 56-24 victory over Seton Hill. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound senior threw touchdown passes of 4, 8 and 24 yards.
Fairmont StateƵs Eltayeb Bushra was named MEC defensive player of the week after making seven tackles, 1.5 for lost yardage, and forcing one fumble.
The FalconsƵ Emmanuel Richardson was tabbed MAC special teams player of the week after making all eight of his extra point attempts.
Richardson also averaged 63.2 yards per kickoff and booted four touchbacks.
HerdƵs Brown wins SBC weekly honor
Marshall University volleyball player Brynn Brown was named the Sun Belt Conference setter of the week Tuesday.
ƵBrynn has been a staple for this program for three years,Ƶ Marshall coach Ari Aganus said in a release.
ƵSheƵs the type of general every coach wants running their offense. IƵm proud of our first ball contact to give her the opportunity to run a sound offense, but so proud that the conference sees what weƵre able to see day in and day out.Ƶ
The Toledo, Ohio, native has helped Marshall to a 2-1 record, including victories over East Tennessee State and Elon Saturday at the Davidson Wildcat Classic. She made 74 assists and 30 digs.
Brown turned in a double-double of 19 assists and 12 digs against Davidson.
