More NCAA Division I college football programs are discovering players from the Tri-State can play at that level. Following is a look at six who did so last year:
REID CARRICO, Ohio State, Ironton HS.
The junior linebacker made one tackle last season.
He has since transferred to West Virginia University, for whom heòòò½ÊÓÆµ™ll have two seasons of eligibility.
BRYCE DAMOUS, UAB, Huntington HS.
òòò½ÊÓÆµ a redshirt senior last season, Damous caught 24 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns from his tight end spot. He threw one pass, a 15-yard completion against Florida Atlantic.
BLAKE HESTER, Akron, òòò½ÊÓÆµhland.
Hester played in 12 games as a junior, returning 31 kickoffs for 579 yards, including a season-best 97 against Ball State. He made eight tackles, five solo. After the season, Hester transferred to Valdosta State.
WYATT MILUM, West Virginia, Spring Valley HS.
The 6-foot-6, 317-pound junior was an honorable-mention All-American as a junior.
He didnòòò½ÊÓÆµ™t allow a sack and just eight quarterback pressures in 305 passing plays.
A second-team All-Big 12 selection, Milum has started 32 of 36 games, 31 in a row.
Milum anchored an offensive line that led Power Five in rushing. He graded at least 92% in 11 of 12 games.
LOGAN OSBURN, Marshall, Cabell Midland HS. Osburn played in all 13 of the Thundering Herdòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s games on the offensive line last season.
He is Marshallòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s starting center after moving from guard.
EVAN ROACH, Morehead State, Point Pleasant HS. Roach played in three games as a true freshman, carrying 13 times for 33 yards. He caught one pass for minus-2 yards. Roach made one tackle.
