After a couple of years of Covid restrictions, getting to talk to players in an informal setting was quite refreshing. Chatting with Bryce Ford-Wheaton, Charles Woods, Dante Stills and Zach Frazier in between their national media interviews provided an opportunity to establish a bit of a personal connection and also learn a bit more about their lives and personalities away from football.
Thus, we gleaned that Frazier has set a wedding date for next year (does it seem like offensive linemen are more likely to get married than players at other positions?), that QB Matt Cavallaro is the best golfer on the team and that Woods, a Dallas native, is not a Cowboy fan.
蝌蚪视频淚 like New Orleans,蝌蚪视频 Woods said of his favorite NFL team. 蝌蚪视频淭hat was because of Reggie Bush, and then watching them I became a Drew Brees fan.蝌蚪视频

However, the Big 12 has still not reverted to its former setup of tables which can be approached by interviewers, instead keeping players and coaches distanced from the media at mini-podiums.
That decision is fine, but once again the league decided not to place microphones facing the media, meaning that questions could not be heard or recorded. If the league is going to continue to distance media and subjects, it needs to make arrangements to get the questions read into mics, as they are for the head coaches in their general interview session on the big stage.
No cheerleaders or mascots were present Wednesday, but some confusion popped up when a burly individual clad in buckskins appeared on the floor of AT&T Stadium, causing several observers to believe that 蝌蚪视频U蝌蚪视频檚 Mountaineer had arrived on the scene. Those very few of us from West Virginia covering the proceedings in person, though, knew that wasn蝌蚪视频檛 the case, as it clearly was not Mary Roush, the current Mountaineer.
It turned out that the man in the frontier garb was actually repping Old Trapper beef jerky, which is not only the official jerky of the Big 12 but is also the title sponsor of Media Days.
(Side note: the jerky is actually pretty good.)

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy joked, we think, about not allowing Oklahoma and Texas into any Big 12 business meetings in the future. While we certainly don蝌蚪视频檛 agree with Gundy蝌蚪视频檚 outlook on some issues, on this one we find ourselves in 100% lockstep.
There is no reason to allow the Sooners or Longhorns any insight into the Big 12蝌蚪视频檚 current or future plans in terms of conference direction or strategy. If it蝌蚪视频檚 something affecting current conference administration or play, then their attendance would be OK, but there should be a line drawn with their involvement on some topics.

I like the initial vibe of incoming league commissioner Brett Yormark. While respecting the work done to keep the Big 12 viable 蝌蚪视频 and together 蝌蚪视频 he also understands it蝌蚪视频檚 going to take more to keep it atop the tier of leagues behind the Big 10 and SEC. He touched all the right key points in his introductory comments and didn蝌蚪视频檛 back down from noting that it蝌蚪视频檚 going to take more work, with some of that being of a non-traditional nature, to build interest in the league.
蝌蚪视频淲e want to be as inclusionary as possible, and we will do some things 蝌蚪视频 and that includes some unorthodox things 蝌蚪视频 to attract as wide an audience as possible,蝌蚪视频 Yormark told BlueGoldNews.com. 蝌蚪视频淲e are going to be distinctive and go some places we might not have gone before. We have a great story to tell, and we need to keep hitting it and repeating it to get the word out.蝌蚪视频
If nothing else, the new face of the league has a plan, and ideas on how to implement it. Without question, he蝌蚪视频檚 going to shake some approaches up, and those stuck in the past with no time for innovation or different models of thought are going to have a hard time adjusting to his process.

Recent departures from 蝌蚪视频U蝌蚪视频檚 athletic administration, including that of Deputy Athletics Director Keli Zinn, have left some holes in the org chart. While plans for replacements have not yet been finalized, some restructuring of the West Virginia athletics tree, along with some promotions, could be utilized to fill those gaps and provide a leaner, flatter administration structure.
蝌蚪视频U will continue to use the sport administrator model, where one member of the athletics administration is responsible for oversight of a varsity sport. Zinn was the sport administrator for both football and women蝌蚪视频檚 tennis, which will necessitate the naming of replacements in those two sports.

Worst media question of the day, directed to Kansas head coach Lance Leipold:
蝌蚪视频淜ansas has beaten Texas twice in six years. What蝌蚪视频檚 up with that?蝌蚪视频
We蝌蚪视频檝e all asked clunkers from time to time, but how was Leipold supposed to answer that one?
