MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (蝌蚪视频 News) 蝌蚪视频 West Virginia filled one of its needs for the 2022 football season with the addition of transfer defensive lineman Mike Lockhart.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pounder could play either nose or tackle for the Mountaineers this year and provides another depth element for a 蝌蚪视频U defense that has been heavily rebuilt on the back end but needed one additional piece up front to give it the flexibility it had a season ago.

A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Lockhart played three seasons for Georgia Tech, appearing in a total 25 games from 2019-21 and starting seven. He recorded 28 tackles (3.5 for losses) before entering the transfer portal prior to the Yellow Jackets蝌蚪视频 spring practice this year.

Lockhart, despite his size, is a nimble player who also excelled on the basketball court at Huffman High School. He only played one year of prep football, so he could have more room for improvement as he joins the Mountaineers for the 2022 season.

Lockhart entered the transfer portal on Feb. 21, joining 10 other Yellow Jackets in that decision path. He will have three years of eligibility remaining, checking another box on 蝌蚪视频U head coach Neal Brown蝌蚪视频檚 wishlist for incoming transfers to have more than one season of playing time remaining.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL SIGNS FOUR-STAR GUARD: New West Virginia women's basketball coach Dawn Plitzuweit has hit the court running in her new job, adding another recruit and maybe the most impressive one yet with the signing of ESPN four-star guard Imarianah 蝌蚪视频淢ari蝌蚪视频 Russell for the 2022-23 academic year.

A 6-foot guard out of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Russell was ranked as the No. 83 player in the class of 2022 by ESPN after leading Reynoldsburg to a 27-2 record and to its first-ever Division 1 state championship. In the final game she scored 28 points, which carried her past 2,000 points for her career.

She also was nominated to play in the 2021-22 McDonald's All-America Game and the Ohio-Kentucky All-Star game while finishing as runner-up for Ohio's Ms. Basketball.

蝌蚪视频淲e are very excited to welcome Mari to our Mountaineer family,蝌蚪视频 Plitzuweit said in announcing the signing.蝌蚪视频淪he is a tremendous competitor and proved that by bringing home a state championship this past season. Mari蝌蚪视频檚 also a very versatile player, as she can shoot it, attack the rim, post up, rebound and defend just about any position on the floor.

"The combination of everything she brings allows her to be a great fit for our program.蝌蚪视频

Russell's brother, Hammon IV, currently is a member of the 蝌蚪视频U football team.

WOMEN'S HOOPS ADDS TCU TRANSFER: West Virginia women蝌蚪视频檚 basketball coach Dawn Plitzuweit has announced the signing of Tavy Diggs to a grant-in-aid for the 2022-23 academic year.

A 6-foot-2 forward from Richardson, Texas, Diggs spent her first three seasons at TCU, where she played in 63 games and scored 405 points for the Horned Frogs. She also totaled 188 rebounds, 71 assists and 42 steals during her time at TCU. She will have two years of eligibility remaining.

蝌蚪视频淲e are thrilled to welcome Tavy to the Mountaineer family,蝌蚪视频 Plitzuweit said. 蝌蚪视频淪he is a high-energy and mature young lady that brings experience within the Big 12 Conference to our program. She is a very intelligent basketball player that has the versatility to make a lot of things happen on both ends of the court. We are so excited to welcome Tavy and the Diggs family to Morgantown!蝌蚪视频

Last season, Diggs played in 26 games, with four starts, for TCU and averaged 6.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. During her 2021-22 campaign, Diggs finished in double figures seven times, including a season-best 20-point game against Oklahoma State on Jan. 12. She also posted a pair of double-doubles.

During the 2020-21 season, Diggs appeared in all 25 games for TCU, earning the start in 12 of those contests. She averaged 9.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game to go along with 41 assists, 17 steals and six blocks. Additionally, Diggs shot 50% (106 of 212) from the field during that season and scored in double figures 10 times, including a pair of 20-point performances. She capped off her 2020-21 campaign with a career-best 22 points against Baylor in the Big 12 Championship on March 12, 2021, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Prior to her time in Fort Worth, Texas, Diggs was rated as a four-star recruit coming out of Plano East High School, according to Prospects Nation. She also was listed as the No. 18 wing in the Class of 2019 by ESPN Hoopgurlz.

A three-time First Team All-District Honoree during her time at Plano East, Diggs averaged 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game during her senior season and was named the District 9-6A Offensive Player of the Year. Additionally, Diggs was nominated to the McDonald蝌蚪视频檚 All-American Game that year. She also averaged 14.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game as a junior, which helped her earn the 2017 District 6-6A Most Valuable Player Award.

TWO ALUMNI SIGN NFL UNDRAFTED FREE AGENT DEALS: 蝌蚪视频 expected, West Virginia was shut out of the 2022 NFL Draft but had a couple of players quickly sign undrafted free agent deals with league teams.

Running back Leddie Brown was snapped up by the Los Angeles Chargers, one of 14 players that team inked to UDFA contracts. Also included in that group was another running back, Kevin Marks, Jr., of Buffalo.

The Chargers drafted Texas A&M running back Isaiah Spiller in the third round and also have Austin Ekeler, Joshua Kelley and Larry Rountree on their current roster.

The Jacksonville Jaguars picked up 蝌蚪视频U safety Sean Mahone in its eight-player free agent haul, which also included Texas defensive back Josh Thompson. The Jags took a pair of cornerbacks in the sixth and seventh rounds, but those might not provide direct competition to Mahone, who will compete to make the team as a safety and special teams player. He will, however, see a crowded roster of at least five safeties when he reports to Jacksonville for his first minicamp.

Additionally, former 蝌蚪视频U safety Alonzo Addae received an invite to the Arizona Cardinals' mini camp.

蝌蚪视频U could see more alums get free agent deals in the coming days, including punter Tyler Sumpter and placekicker Evan Staley. Safety Scottie Young, who also worked out at 蝌蚪视频U蝌蚪视频檚 Pro Day on March 29, could also get a look from the NFL or another pro league.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. 蝌蚪视频 West Virginia University held its Pro Day Tuesday afternoon for recently-graduated 蝌蚪视频U football players, and 21 NFL scouts representing 18 teams were on hand to observe those workouts.

Six former Mountaineers 蝌蚪视频 placekicker/punter Tyler Sumpter, placekicker Evan Staley, running back Leddie Brown, defensive back Sean Mahone, defensive back Alonzo Addae and defensive back Scottie Young 蝌蚪视频 were put through their paces by the Pittsburgh Steeler scouts, who ran the drills, while the others kept stopwatches and notepads at the ready.

蝌蚪视频淚t蝌蚪视频檚 something that蝌蚪视频檚 very significant for these six individuals, but it蝌蚪视频檚 important for our program, too,蝌蚪视频 said 蝌蚪视频U head coach Neal Brown of Pro Day. 蝌蚪视频淲e always talk about three goals 蝌蚪视频 we want to develop men, we want to win, and we want to graduate and place.

蝌蚪视频淚 tell parents this up front, and credit our academic staff, but we蝌蚪视频檝e graduated 100% from the year before I got here and then these last three years of those who have (finished) their eligibility.

蝌蚪视频淎fter that, we work on placement, and there is no better place we can put our student-athletes where they蝌蚪视频檙e going to make a better first-year salary than in the NFL. Now, all of them aren蝌蚪视频檛 going to make it, but that蝌蚪视频檚 the goal when you come and play big-time college football. I蝌蚪视频檓 excited for these guys. It蝌蚪视频檚 a showcase day for them.蝌蚪视频

After doing strength tests in the Puskar Center weightroom, the half dozen went to the Indoor Practice Facility for additional workouts.

The placekickers each showed off their leg strength and accuracy with field-goal tries from various distances.

蝌蚪视频淭oday was kind of like kicking on a game day. You sort of black out and zero in on what you蝌蚪视频檙e doing,蝌蚪视频 said Staley, who is overcoming a knee injury he suffered in 2020 that continued to limit him last season. 蝌蚪视频淢y knee feels great, and I feel really strong kicking the football now. I hit some bombs today that I hadn蝌蚪视频檛 hit in a while.蝌蚪视频

After the kickers, the three safeties went through a variety of speed, agility and ball drills, showing off their footwork, quickness and hands.

蝌蚪视频淚 thought I did well,蝌蚪视频 stated Addae. 蝌蚪视频淚 was happy to come out here and perform in front of NFL scouts, just get an opportunity. I was grateful to God for putting me in this position.

蝌蚪视频淚蝌蚪视频檝e been training six days a week for this,蝌蚪视频 added the safety from Ontario, Canada. 蝌蚪视频淚 think I put on a good show today.蝌蚪视频

One of the highest-priced workout passers available threw to the three safeties, as well to Leddie Brown, who mixed running back bag drills with route running. 蝌蚪视频U蝌蚪视频檚 first-year offensive coordinator Graham Harrell, who is still fifth in FBS passing numbers, throwing for 15,599 yards in his Texas Tech career (2006-09) and then spent five seasons in pro football, did all the throwing on Tuesday.

Brown caught Harrell蝌蚪视频檚 passes well, and he also showed nice agility in the bag drills, which were overseen by Blaine Stewart, the son of former 蝌蚪视频U coach Bill Stewart, who is now an assistant coach with the Steelers.

蝌蚪视频淪ince I was home, I was more comfortable, cutting on the turf and things like that,蝌蚪视频 said Brown, who is the only Mountaineer who also performed at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis at the beginning of March.

While Mahone (4.56), Addae (4.58) and Young (4.68) each ran the 40-yard dash on Tuesday蝌蚪视频檚 Pro Day, along with all the other drills, Brown skipped the 40 and also the broad jump.

蝌蚪视频淚 think I did pretty good,蝌蚪视频 said the running back, who measured 5-foot-11.68 and 215 pounds. 蝌蚪视频淚 wanted to do more, but they told me they wanted to save my legs. Save my legs for what? This is an interview. I was made to do this.蝌蚪视频

Brown was timed at 4.64 in the 40 in Indianapolis, and while on Tuesday he did the vertical jump (36.5 inches), 20-yard shuttle (4.21), 3-cone drill (7.03) and bench press (18 sets of 225), he decided not to run the 40 again in Morgantown.

蝌蚪视频淚蝌蚪视频檓 just going to stand on my combine 40,蝌蚪视频 Brown explained. 蝌蚪视频淢y film speaks for itself.蝌蚪视频

Leddie蝌蚪视频檚 numbers in most of the categories recorded at 蝌蚪视频U蝌蚪视频檚 Pro Day bested his Mountaineer teammates, though Addae did top him by .02 in the 3-cone drill (7.01). Addae also had the second-best 20-yard shuttle behind Brown (4.23) and equaled Mahone in the broad jump at 9-foot, 8-inches.

For all six, it was an opportunity to work out 蝌蚪视频 and hopefully impress 蝌蚪视频 NFL scouts.

蝌蚪视频淭his was a dream come true. It was a surreal moment,蝌蚪视频 explained Young. 蝌蚪视频淚 remember being in middle school and high school dreaming of getting an opportunity to perform in front of coaches at the highest level, and I got that chance today.蝌蚪视频

A few days ago, we looked at some of West Virginia蝌蚪视频檚 major needed areas of improvement on offense if the 2022 season is to be appreciably better than the results of the 2021 campaign.

Today, it蝌蚪视频檚 the defense蝌蚪视频檚 turn in the spotlight, and although the jumps don蝌蚪视频檛 need to be as big as those required on offense, there are still some areas that have to see upgrades.

Playmaking Bandits: At Troy, Neal Brown had defenses built around the bandit position.

Playing either on the line of scrimmage at one end of the defensive front, or as a second inside linebacker off the ball to give the defense an entirely different look, the bandit is a hybrid defender that does a bit of everything from rushing the passer to run fitting in the middle of the defense to dropping out into short zone pass defense.

At Troy, Hunter Reese became Brown蝌蚪视频檚 quintessential bandit, following in the footsteps of Sam Lebbie. At West Virginia, such a player has yet to be identified.

VanDarius Cowan, brought in as a transfer, had the most natural athletic skill to fit the needs of the position but continued assignment busts made him a hit or miss proposition at the spot.

Jared Bartlett, backing up and sometimes starting in front of the erratic Cowan, has progressed respectably, recording 32 tackles this year, but with just one tackle for loss and no sacks this year, didn蝌蚪视频檛 produce the number of impact plays the spot demands.

West Virginia has recruited multiple prospects for the position last year and this, but to date has not found the one player who can stay on the field, no matter the assignment, and be a difference-maker in all phases.

Whether Bartlett or one of the holdovers or new recruits can fill the bill remains to be seen, but for West Virginia蝌蚪视频檚 defense to function the way Troy蝌蚪视频檚 did in wins over LSU and Nebraska, a dominant, multi-tasking bandit has to be found.

Safety Dance: Perhaps 蝌蚪视频渞eplacement蝌蚪视频 rather than 蝌蚪视频渋mprovement蝌蚪视频 is the key word here, but 蝌蚪视频U must replace Alonzo Addae, Sean Mahone and Scottie Young at its free, cat and spear safety positions.

Add in outgoing transfer Jackie Matthews, who sometimes slotted in at the spear, and the Mountaineers face a huge rebuild at the position.

Also needed is more consistent play from the group, especially in defending deep balls and reading and reacting.

Mahone was the best of the three overall, but at times there were concerning breakdowns in coverage and run support.

蝌蚪视频U also didn蝌蚪视频檛 get the best synergy it hoped for in using the cat and free interchangeably at times, or as the pair of high safeties in two-deep zone looks.

If nothing else, West Virginia must be flexible in its positioning and pass coverage options, with the same personnel able to execute at different spots, in order to be successful, and that wasn蝌蚪视频檛 always the case.

Generating big plays and turnovers is the other area in which 蝌蚪视频U蝌蚪视频檚 safeties must improve in 2022.

Sean Mahone had the group蝌蚪视频檚 only two picks in 2021, with Addae collecting its only fumble recovery, leaving 蝌蚪视频U 79th nationally in the former category and 87th in the latter.

Like the bandit spot, these are playmaking positions in the West Virginia defensive scheme, and it needs dynamic, game-changing plays from them in order to have success.

Depth at Cornerback: While versatility is clearly one of the cornerstones of West Virginia蝌蚪视频檚 defense, the flip side is that all of the shuffling between the secondary positions on defense might have contributed to some of the group蝌蚪视频檚 inconsistency in 2021.

Again, play was good overall, but with transfers and first-time starters manning the positions after Nicktroy Fortune was lost for the season, those players probably could have benefited from minimal switching.

Injuries contributed heavily to the need to shuffle players from week to week, and that蝌蚪视频檚 obviously something that can蝌蚪视频檛 be controlled, but a key priority this spring 蝌蚪视频 and in the search of the transfer portal 蝌蚪视频 will be the identification of at least four players who can stick at the corner spots and be counted on no matter the assignment.

It蝌蚪视频檚 not an easy one, but it蝌蚪视频檚 needed to help West Virginia limit big plays and get off the field earlier in drives.

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (蝌蚪视频 News) 蝌蚪视频 With the weekend now over, we can offer up the breaking news that the sun did, indeed, rise on Sunday morning.

In fact, it was an hour early, Saturday night/Sunday morning being the changeover from Daylight Savings Time to Eastern Standard Time ... you know, "spring forward, fall back" and all that.

The time had changed, the outcome hadn't.

"We got beat by a better football team Saturday," Brown proclaimed, which was hardly stop-the-presses stuff.

The fact was, the only thing Neal Brown got out of that game, other than the really cool camouflage 蝌蚪视频 jacket he wore on the sideline, was a cold that had him coughing so badly that assistant A.D. Mike Fragale had to give a cough drop.

"This cold got me about like Oklahoma State did," he said.

The cough drop worked far better than any of the plays in Brown's game plan Saturday.

What transpired on Saturday was Oklahoma State bullying 蝌蚪视频U all around Milan Puskar Stadium in a hard-to-watch 24-3 victory ... hard, that is, if you happened to be rooting for the Mountaineers.

Brown understood that.

There are two questions raised out of that game:

Is Oklahoma State that good?

And far more important now that the Cowboys have moved from the present into the past comes the other question:

Is West Virginia that bad?

This is how Brown put it.

"We would have had to play at our best and didn't, and they got after us. You play defenses like that, we better bring our A-game," he said.

The point is, 蝌蚪视频U doesn't have to worry about Oklahoma State any longer, but it will find out in the future the answer to the second question.

The Mountaineers have three games left, and to reach six wins and bowl eligibility, they must win two of them, facing Kansas State, Texas and Kansas the rest of the way.

The tape has now been seen by the coaches and players, and there is no way to gauge what that viewing experience was like, at least in the offensive room.

Funny, never thought of it this way before, but the Mountaineer offense was truly offensive on Saturday, so offensive that even their sturdy defense couldn't come to the rescue as it has been trying to do all season. In truth, the defense may have played its finest game of the year, but you'd really never know it from the way 蝌蚪视频U's offense was manhandled by the Cowboys.

Now, 蝌蚪视频U's attention shifts from the past to the future, not to those three games, but simply to the next one on the schedule, playing this Saturday at Kansas State.

Defensive back Alonzo Addae, who once again was force on defense against Oklahoma State, may have put it best when he was brought before the media for a post-game postmortem.

"We have three games left after this, we have to regroup, go over what we didn't do right, then move on," he said, delivering the only message available to the team without wandering into dangerous territory.

蝌蚪视频 trite a cliche as it has become, whoever originated the phrase "You have to play 'em one at a time" knew what he was talking about.

How many teams have been caught looking ahead and been upset? Does 蝌蚪视频U vs. Pitt in 2009 ring a bell?

"I just want us to play up to our capability," Brown said. "I want us to play football the way it's supposed to be played in all three phrases. If we do that, that takes care of itself. With this team, we need to concentrate on the here and now. We can't dwell on the past or the negative. What we have to do is concentrate on what we have to do against Kansas State that will give us a chance to win Saturday afternoon.

But that's easier said than done because everyone knows that now it's a three-game season, and they want it to become a four-game season with a vital month of post-season practice that comes with qualifying for a bowl.

Strange, isn't it, that the teams that need that month of work most 蝌蚪视频 bad teams that don't make a bowl 蝌蚪视频 are the ones who are denied having that practice time.

But that's life in college football, where little ever makes sense.

"Is the question, 'Would I like to go to a bowl?' Yes. For sure. You always start with that as your initial goal and go off of that. You want to go to a bowl for the extra practices, yes, and because a lot of times you're the only game on.

"Look at our game against Army in the Liberty Bowl. That's huge exposure for us and the state, so it matters. We need to rebound and get it together for the final three weeks," Brown concluded.

The problem facing 蝌蚪视频U is like playing in a craps game where someone else has loaded the dice, for 蝌蚪视频U is beginning to feel the effects of the long season through injuries.

The Mountaineers are without tight end Mike O'Laughlin and cornerback Nicktroy Fortune for the season while Isaiah Esdale, an important wide receiver and punt returner, missed the last game with broken ribs and will have to make an amazing recovery to play this week.

In addition, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, one of quarterback Jarret Doege's favorite targets, is banged up and was limited in his play against Oklahoma State.

"It's definitely difficult," Addae said of the situation of trying to win two of three shorthanded. "You never want to see guys you put in the work with injured. The younger guys are definitely going to have to step up."

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (蝌蚪视频 News) 蝌蚪视频 He has to not only see the entire field, but range it from sideline to sideline. His keys are as varied as the number and types of opponents he faces. He has to communicate with the entire defensive secondary, make calls and also help bring along some youngsters in the one 蝌蚪视频U unit that isn蝌蚪视频檛 overly long on experience. But for West Virginia free safety Alonzo Addae, a few important fundamentals form the foundation for success, which he saw play out on last year蝌蚪视频檚 defensive unit.

蝌蚪视频淲e just did our job. We went into each game with the plan the coaches gave us, and nobody tried to do too much,蝌蚪视频 said the veteran safety in his sixth season of college, although two of those did not include competition as he sat out 2016 at New Hampshire as a redshirt and 2019 as a transfer to 蝌蚪视频U. 蝌蚪视频淚 think that can be an issue with the skill level of offensive players and coordinators. When you get your eyes in bad places and when you try to do somebody else蝌蚪视频檚 job, bad things will happen. I feel like last year was a year where everybody stuck with what they needed to do, and that made us successful.蝌蚪视频

That may sound quite simple, but in truth, many of the keys to success are. It蝌蚪视频檚 being able to stick to them, to not get complacent once the fundamentals are mastered or too aggressive in trying to help others.

Take, for example, Saturday蝌蚪视频檚 game against Maryland. In addition to all of his other duties, Addae and the defense will have to account for the scrambling ability of quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, who not only threw for 1,011 yards in four games in 2020, but also picked up 135 rushing yards (some of which were negated by 91 yards of sacks) and two TDs. His ability to extend plays and drives is a point of concern for the 蝌蚪视频U defense, but Addae reiterates that assignment football is still the path to success.

蝌蚪视频淭he most important job is my key,蝌蚪视频 he said, while intimating that the same exists for each of his defensive teammates. 蝌蚪视频淚f my key is the quarterback, then that蝌蚪视频檚 what I need to be looking at. If my key is a receiver, that蝌蚪视频檚 what I need to be looking at. It can be a lot, but that蝌蚪视频檚 why your eyes being in the right place is so important. If you see a lot, you may not see the right thing. So focus on your key, and that is what will help you be successful.蝌蚪视频

West Virginia蝌蚪视频檚 defense set that example last year, and Addae is trying to reinforce it in his final season wit the Mountaineers. He has some veteran experience alongside him in the secondary in the form of cornerback Nicktroy Fortune, who has 12 starts and 22 games under his belt, and cat safety Sean Mahone, whose 42 games and 22 starts lead the team. But past that, the experience drops away precipitously. Redshirt freshman Daryl Porter, Jr., has won the other cornerback job, and his first snap against the Terps will be the first of his collegiate career. Jackie Matthews backs him up but has just 10 games of experience, most of those in a backup role, to call upon.

Redshirt junior Malachi Ruffin, who recently earned a scholarship, showed why with a fall performance that elevated him to backup status behind Fortune, but almost all of his reps have come on special teams. Kerry Martin, with four starts in 12 games in 2019, has a bit more seasoning, but after sitting out 2020, he will still be working to get comfortable behind Mahone after moving down from free safety in his true freshman season.

Addae has also been tutoring backups behind him at free safety, and the early winner there has been Aubrey Burks, a true freshman who has displayed a work ethic beyond his first-year status.

蝌蚪视频淎ubrey has made a huge impression. From the first day he蝌蚪视频檚 been here, he蝌蚪视频檚 been all about his business,蝌蚪视频 said Addae, who racked up 66 tackles, two interceptions and five pass breakups in 2020. 蝌蚪视频淗e shows up to work every day with a veteran蝌蚪视频檚 mentality. He comes to me with a lot of questions, and he蝌蚪视频檚 not a guy I feel like I have to pull along. He wants to be here and wants to put in the work daily.蝌蚪视频

That, like those base assignments, is yet another key to success, and those fundamentals are lessons that the youngsters will have to rely on when the season opens in College Park.

Alonzo Addae is a man who isn蝌蚪视频檛 afraid to move and experience different things.

He grew up in Canada in the Toronto suburb of Pickering, where he attended St. Mary蝌蚪视频檚 Catholic Secondary School. In 2015, he shifted south of the border, enrolling at The Peddie School, which is a highly-regarded prep school in New Jersey.

His first-team all-Mid-Atlantic Prep League performance for the Falcons that season earned him a scholarship offer from New Hampshire, and he spent the next three years at the FCS program in Durham. He redshirted the first year and then played in 24 games over the next two.

Wanting to test himself at the FBS level, he looked to move again after the 2018 season. He placed a call to his cousin, Jahmile Addae, who was 蝌蚪视频U蝌蚪视频檚 cornerbacks coach at the time, and that conversation got Alonzo packing again, this time with Morgantown as his destination.

He arrived in the summer of 2019, but at that time most transfers had to sit out from game action due to NCAA rules. Thus Addae had to be content with strictly practice work in his first year with the Mountaineers.

蝌蚪视频淚 definitely wanted to be out there. 蝌蚪视频 a competitor, it hurt sitting on the sidelines while others were on the field,蝌蚪视频 admitted the 5-foot-10, 290-pound safety of missing the 2019 season. 蝌蚪视频淏ut at the same time, I tried to use that year to better my skills. They put me in the developmental program, so I had a lot of time to concentrate on lifting and running and getting my body ready. Then I was able to go up against the starting offense in practice since I was a member of the scout team. I tried to make the most of the opportunity, attacking every day with the idea of getting better.蝌蚪视频

Little was known of Addae by those outside the 蝌蚪视频U program prior to the 2020 campaign. An FCS player trying to transition to the Power 5 level left many questions, but Alonzo answered almost all those positively once he got onto the field last season. He started all 10 games for the Mountaineers at free safety and was second on the team in tackles with 66 stops to go along with two interceptions and five pass deflections. His efforts earned him second-team all-Big 12 honors.

Addae was a fifth-year senior last season, but because of COVID, the NCAA didn蝌蚪视频檛 count 2020 toward the eligibility clock any fall or winter student-athlete. Thus he had the opportunity to return to 蝌蚪视频U in 蝌蚪视频21 for a sixth college year.

With all that experience, including a full season in West Virginia蝌蚪视频檚 defense, Addae expects to be even better this time around.

蝌蚪视频淚 have a much greater knowledge of this defense,蝌蚪视频 Addae said. 蝌蚪视频淟ast year being my first year, the formations and the motions and things like that often were new to me, at least at game speed. Now having a year under my belt gives me a better understanding of our defense, the pieces around me and how opposing offenses like to attack us.蝌蚪视频
