The 67th Grammy Awards took place Sunday at the Arena in Los Angeles, and a West Virginian won big.
Charleston native and country folk artist Sierra Ferrell won her first Grammys for Americana performance, Americana roots song, Americana album for ƵTrail of Flowers,Ƶ and American roots performance.
ƵHonestly this is kind of hilarious,Ƶ she joked after returning to the stage for a third time. ƵYikes!Ƶ she started her fourth acceptance speech.
She accepted the awards in a ruffly white gown designed by Jeffrey Kelly Designs.
FerrellƵs dress included huge luminescent sleeves, pearl embellishment all over and a matching choker piece. Her ensemble was topped by a bold veil, a head piece with pearls and flower touches above large pearl chandelier earrings, and she had a scepter, where she stashed her acceptance speech.
FerrellƵs awards were presented during the GrammysƵ Premiere Ceremony in the hours leading up to the award showƵs three-hour, prime-time telecast.
Ƶ the Grammys have nearly 100 awards to hand out, thereƵs simply not enough time to fit all of that, plus performances and acceptance speeches, into the main show, which is where the Premiere Ceremony comes in.
In other awards, Beyoncé won album of the year for ƵCowboy CarterƵ and Kendrick Lamar won song and record of the year for his diss track ƵNot Like Us,Ƶ taking home two of the nightƵs most prestigious awards. Chappell Roan was named best new artist.
Ƶ far as first-time Grammy award winners go, Ferrell was in good company.
They included Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, Charli xcx, songwriter Amy Allen, Música Mexicana star Carin León and French metal band Gojira.
