HUNTINGTON Ƶ With sales tax holidays underway, back-to-school shoppers are out in full force in West Virginia and Ohio, with Walmart proving to be a popular place to shop for everything from school supplies to first-day fashion.
ƵWeƵre on a mission to help parents and teachers save money and make back-to-school shopping a breeze for everyone. Our goal is to provide an easy, affordable, and personalized shopping experience for everything teachers and students need to gear up for the school year,Ƶ Charles Crowson, spokesperson for Walmart, said in an emailed statement.
During the , the following select items are exempt from Sales and Use tax: clothing with a purchase price of $125 or less; laptop and tablet computers with a purchase price of $500 or less; school instruction material with a purchase price of $20 or less; school supplies with a purchase price of $50 or less; and sports equipment with a purchase price of $150 or less.
There is no limit on the amount of the total purchase. The qualification is determined by each individual item.
ƵSaving money remains a top priority for our customers and this back-to-school season weƵve been working hard to keep prices low across our entire back-to-school selection,Ƶ Crowson said.
West VirginiaƵs sales tax holiday will end at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5. OhioƵs sales tax holiday will end at 11:59 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8.
