HUNTINGTON òòò½ÊÓƵ” The West Virginia Division of Highways is advertising for bids to clean and paint the Sgt. Jackie L. Waymire Memorial Bridge carrying 3rd Avenue over the Guyandotte River in Huntington. Bids will be opened at the DoH office in Charleston on July 16.
The bridge is named for Sgt. Jackie L. Waymire, a Huntington native who was killed in action in the Vietnam War on Jan. 9, 1967. The bridge was named in his honor by an act of the West Virginia Legislature in 2008.
