HUNTINGTON òòò½ÊÓÆµ” Two men pleaded guilty to the felony offense of reentry of a removed alien and were sentenced in the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of West Virginia on Monday.
Jesus Eduardo Villeda-Villegas, 30, and Brigido Cayetano-Galvez, 29, were both found to be in the country illegally in 2015 and were deported to Mexico, according to indictment records.
They were each found at or near Huntington when they were arrested again last month.
Cayetano returned to the U.S. one other time in 2017, when he was deported again.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, neither had consent from the Secretary of U.S. Homeland Security to reapply for admission to the U.S., and neither sought to reenter through legal means.
Both men were sentenced to time served. According to the DOJ, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has immigration detainers òòò½ÊÓÆµ” requests for confinement facilities to notify ICE before releasing a removable person òòò½ÊÓÆµ” on the men so they can be transferred to ICE administrative custody for removal.
