HUNTINGTON òòò½ÊÓÆµ” The Huntington Planning Commission will convene Monday to consider a petition to rezone property for the Huntington Homelessness Services Hub.
The commission will meet at City Hall in the council chambers at 5:30 p.m. Residents can speak for or against the petition during the public comment portion of the meeting.
The petition requests to rezone seven parcels from I-2 Heavy Industrial District to I-1 Light Industrial District in the West End for the cityòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s proposed low-barrier shelter at 96 3rd Ave. W.
The I-1 Light Industrial/ Commercial District conditionally permits a number of uses that would not be permitted in an I-2 District. Uses that are conditionally permitted must be approved through a public hearing in front of the Board of Zoning Appeals, which must consider the impact of the proposed use on surrounding properties in making a decision and where the public has a right to voice an opinion, according to the meeting agenda documents.
