A soggy Thursday as spring showers continue here in Putnam County! Looks like we will start off the month of May with a soggy day in the schedule. A few gusty storms could bring 60-plus mph winds, but the bigger issue with todayòòò½ÊÓƵ™s system will be heavy downpours. A lagging front with extremely humid conditions will lead to showers and thunderstorms at times through the afternoon and evening. While highs will be mild into the 80s, the moisture will lead to some poor-drainage flooding in low-lying areas. If any rainfall totals exceed the 2 to 3 inch amounts, some creeks and streams will need to be monitored for rises òòò½ÊÓƵ” but at this point, the chances look isolated.
The frontal boundary finally clears the region late Friday. We will start off with morning rain and thunderstorm chances but improve gradually by the evening. A seasonably comfortable day with highs in the 70s.
The Charleston Dirty Birds will have their home opener Friday night with the first pitch at 6:35 as they host the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs! While the weather may not be picture perfect, bring a jacket as temperatures fall off into the 50s quickly after sunset on this one.
High pressure finally makes a return for your weekend! Ample sunshine, a few clouds, and a comfortable air mass with light north winds and highs right around 70. This will be a seasonably cool day to enjoy!
The nice temperatures stick around into Sunday with a few passing clouds. This may return morning frost concerns to the region though during this timeframem so be careful with any sensitive plants outdoors and be sure to monitor the forecast closely to know when to move them indoors!
The forecast is a tricky one into next week as the exact placement of a frontal boundary will dictate whether we can enjoy nice sunshine in the 80s or continued north flow and chilly highs in the 60s.
Another disturbance will try to ride the boundary and return chances of rain and thunderstorms for Tuesday and Wednesday. Some of these storms may be strong, but the key takeaway is to prepare for some spring showers and downpours as we head deeper into the month of May!
