Seed, plant swap planned at Poca library
POCA Ƶ The Poca branch of the Putnam County Public Library is hosting a Seed and Plant Swap from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, April 26.
The event will be facilitated by Rabbit Ridge Farm of Poca, which will provide additional plants and seeds.
Hurricane Civic Chorus presents spring concert
HURRICANE Ƶ The Hurricane Civic Chorus, directed by Dr. Ilse Long, is preparing for its upcoming concert titled ƵSing You the Stars.Ƶ
This 74-member male and female community chorus will present a variety of pieces, including a musical tribute to our veterans and active service members.
The public is welcome to this free concert on Tuesday, May 20 at 7:30 p.m. at Forrest Burdette Memorial United Methodist Church in Hurricane (2848 Putnam Ave.). Doors open at 7:05 p.m.

Meeks Mountain Trails Alliance to host plant walk
HURRICANE Ƶ Meeks Mountain Trail Alliance will host a Wild Edibles and Medicinal Plant Walk at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21, at Hurricane City Park.
West Virginia Master Naturalist, Becky Linger will take participants through Meeks Mountain trails and teach about the medicinal plants and edibles growing in HurricaneƵs backyard.
The group will meet at the Hurricane City Park Big Red Barn at 5:30 p.m. Wear hiking shoes and be prepared to walk at least 2 miles. No pets on this hike.

New, expecting moms invited to safety event
SCOTT DEPOT Ƶ Heartbeat of the Valley, Inc. is hosting the Putnam County Community Baby Safety Event from 4-6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, at 28 Mission Way, Suite 100, Scott Depot.
Expectant moms or those with babies up to 12 months old are invited to attend. Multiple Putnam County resource agencies will be on hand to share information and to provide gifts. There will be good an prizes, and special safety door prizes including baby gates, medicine lock bags, Deterra packs, and more. There will also be a special guest speaker from the Ƶ Poison Control Center.

Gabriel Project to offer baby supplies

Church offers Baby Love Pantry
CROSS LANES Ƶ The Baby Love Pantry at Cross Lanes United Methodist Church distributes free diapers and wipes, and formula (when available), on designated Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
No income limits are required to receive items, but proof of the childƵs existence and an I.D. for the adult getting supplies are required. Drive-through pickup of items can be made in the upper parking lot of CLUMC, 5320 Frontier Drive in Cross Lanes. Putnam Union PSD sets 2025 meetings
RED HOUSE, W.Va. Ƶ The 2025 Putnam Union PSD water meetings will be held the first Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. at the W.Va. 34 Fire Department in Red House, West Virginia.

Tire collection planned in Winfield
WINFIELD Ƶ Putnam County Solid Waste Authority will have a tire collection event from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Winfield Public Works, beside PayneƵs Produce.
The next collection will be Saturday, May 3.
Personal passenger tires only; maximum of 10 tires per person. No rims.
Zoology Zone to host end-of-year art show
HURRICANE Ƶ Zoology Zone Science Center invites the community to its end-of-year art celebration from 6-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8.
