The Ƶ50 Protests 50 States 1 DayƵ protest, also being referred to as 50501, is set to happen at noon Wednesday, Feb. 5, at every state capitol building in the United States.
While it is not being officially organized by any local groups, entities such as WomenƵs March of West Virginia, the ACLU and others are expected to gather in Charleston for the event.
Robin Cutlip, president of WomenƵs March of West Virginia, said she only recently started hearing about the protest.
She said protesters will gather on the Capitol lawn on the river side at noon and let attendees tell their story of why they are against Project 2025, a governing treatise and collection of conservative policy proposals authored by the Heritage Foundation, or how it has affected them.
While campaigning for president, Donald Trump denied Project 2025 was a blueprint for his second administration, though its authors include several veterans of TrumpƵs first term of office and some from his current or planned administration, including Russell Vought, his pick for chief of the White House Office of Management and Budget.
ƵA lot of people are already losing their jobs, losing their funding for their nonprofit groups that they work with, so a lot of people are already being affected by it,Ƶ Cutlip said.
Attendees can gather with other like-minded people and tell their story, then march around the Capitol, she said.
The ACLU of West Virginia posted on its Facebook page Tuesday that while it is not involved in the planning or organization of the event Wednesday, members of its staff, and some of its partner organizations, will attend.
ƵIt is our First Amendment right to gather, and we will be there tomorrow as like-minded people, and our voices will be heard,Ƶ Cutlip said.
