Local leaders were recipients of the 2024 Legacy Awards. From left, Amanda Cleary, founder of nonprofit Third and Center, received the Alumni Humanitarian Award; Olivia Brooke Kingly, a Dawnson-Bryant High School senior, won the Dr. Charles Jarrett Emerging Leader Award; Darrell Smith, co-founder of C.B. Nickolas Community Center and Black History Museum, was the recipient of the Drum Major Award; and Stacy Murray-Medcalf, co-founder of The Cause In. And God Factor Ministries, won the Beloved Community Service Award.

IRONTON Ƶ Each year, Ohio University Southern celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. throughout the month of January. Ƶ part of this celebration, the Ohio University Southern Council on Diversity and Inclusion is accepting nominations now through Nov. 1 for individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations exemplifying the ideals espoused by Dr. King, according to a news release.

These awards seek to honor those who promote KingƵs legacy and who capture his vision, spirit and leadership in ways big and small.
