IRONTON òòò½ÊÓÆµ” Two separate charges have been filed against a Lawrence County man currently jailed on a $1 million bond.
Michael S. Bishop, 39, of County Road 182, Kitts Hill, was indicted earlier this year on 10 counts of rape and 10 counts of sexual battery against a Lawrence County resident. He subsequently was charged with 10 counts of sexual battery, according to court files.
Judge Christen Finley has ordered two separate trial dates for Sept. 22 and Oct. 30. A pretrial was scheduled for Aug. 6. The case is being prosecuted by Lawrence County Prosecutor Brigham Anderson.
In an unrelated case, bond for Robert N. Jones, 36, of the 2100 block of Jefferson Avenue, Huntington, was reduced July 2 to $25,000 at the request of prosecutors and defense counsel, and his mother posted bond in the case. Jones has been held on bond since May 25.
Jones is charged with involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another with drugs and trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound after selling drugs to a person who subsequently died from a drug overdose.
He was ordered to begin treatment in a lockdown treatment program while the case is pending.
In other cases:
Donita Allen, 27, of Ecorse, Michigan, pleaded guilty to failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer. He was placed on community control sanctions (probation) for four years and was ordered to do 400 hours of community service. His probation will be transferred to Michigan. Prosecutors cited evidentiary issues in the case that could have resulted in a maximum of three years in prison.
Kerry T. Coleman, 39, of Ohio 243, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to aggravated possession of meth. He earlier was released from a treatment program, a condition of his bond. A pretrial was set for July 23.
Miranda Adkins, 44, of James Street, Flatwoods, Kentucky, pleaded not guilty to three counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs. Bond was set at $25,000. If released, the defendant will have to wear an ankle monitor.
