HUNTINGTON Ƶ The Marshall University Board of Governors will consider selling property near the School of Pharmacy during its regular meeting Wednesday.
The Finance, Audit and Facilities Planning Committee will discuss approving the sale of property Marshall owns at 1403 11th Ave., 1405 11th Ave., 1457 11th Ave. and 1459 11th Ave.
The property is located behind Stephen J. Kopp Hall, or the School of Pharmacy, along Hal Greer Boulevard and is being marketed Ƶfor the purpose of building luxury townhomes,Ƶ according to the meeting agenda.
Currently, the property consists of vacant lots.
According to the agenda, the property will be sold according to its appraised value and any costs incurred by the university to have it appraised and sold, although it does not include the appraisal value. The agenda also does not include any information about prospective buyers or the purpose of the townhomes.
The committee will also consider approving the sale of property at 2400 Benedum Industrial Drive in Bridgeport.
According to the agenda, the 0.75-acre parcel of land is the site of a light industrial building with office and research space of about 28,000 square feet known as the former Robert C. Byrd Institute (RCBI), as well as the adjacent parking lot.
Marshall and the Marshall University Research Corporation currently lease the property to Aurora Flight Sciences, an aviation and aeronautics research subsidiary of Boeing, according to the agenda. The university wants to list the property on the market for sale.
Ƶ of now, there are no identified prospective buyers for the property, according to the agenda.
Director of Communications Leah Payne said Monday that she cannot share details about either of the properties at this time.
Capital projects list to be reviewed
The Finance, Audit and Facilities Planning Committee will also review the Fiscal Year 2026 through FY31 Capital Project List, which includes several desired projects on campus on the universityƵs deferred maintenance list and approved capital expenditures.
If a project is included in the list, it is not guaranteed to be funded, according to the agenda. The list of prioritized projects would cost the university a collective $175,517,783.
Some of the projects induce track resurfacing, computer replacements, library renovations, floor replacements and other maintenance requests.

The committee will also discuss reallocating funds from the State Institutions of Higher Education Deferred Maintenance Grant Program. According to the agenda, several of MarshallƵs projects under the program that were approved in June 2023 were completed under budget.
Ƶ a result, staff have asked to reallocate the funds to support other projects within the South Charleston campus, for fine arts renovations, to demolish Holderby Hall, for stormwater improvements and for HVAC replacement.
If approved, the reallocated funds would total $925,959 for the projects.
Other business
During the Academic and Student Affairs Committee meeting, the addition of three degrees will be considered.
The committee will discuss adding a bachelor of science in health and movement science, a bachelor of science in sonography and a master of science in mathematics to its degree offerings.
The Athletics Committee will discuss granting consent for the terms and conditions outlined for the position of the head menƵs basketball coach. A name is not included in the agenda.
The Athletics Committee will meet at 10 a.m. in the conference center of the Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall at 519 John Marshall Drive.
Both the Academic and Student Affairs Committee and the Finance, Audit and Facilities Planning Committee will meet at the Brad D. Smith Foundation Hall at 11 a.m.
The Academic and Student Affairs Committee will meet in the conference center, and the Finance, Audit and Facilities Planning Committee will meet in the Moses Board Room.
