Residents registered to vote in precincts 47 and 48 at Davis Creek Elementary School in Barboursville will now relocate due to the schoolòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s move this summer to its new building at 1400 River View Drive, directly next to The Village at River View assisted living facility and an EMS station.
Precinct 47 Davis Creek Elementary School has moved to the Cabell County 4-H Camp at Barboursville. Precinct 48 was relocated to Huntington High School.
Chief Deputy Clerk Grace Taylor said of the 748 registered voters being moved to the 4-H Camp only 241 of those showed up to vote, and only 360 of Precinct 48òòò½ÊÓÆµ™s 1,253 voters showed up to vote during the primary election in May. The relocation is permanent, she said. All residents affected by the change of location will be sent a letter notifying them of the change.
The commission also approved a resolution to submit a grant application to the West Virginia Division of Justice and Community Service for Victims of Crimes Act (VOCA) assistance funding of $219,903.
Cabell County Prosecuting Attorney Jason Spears said the grant has been given to the Prosecuting Attorneyòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s Office for as long as he can remember and provides money for the officeòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s victimòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s advocate services.
The commission also approved the countyòòò½ÊÓÆµ™s hotel/motel occupancy tax funding requests for fiscal year 2024-25 in the amount of $305,010.
