HUNTINGTON Ƶ A new scholarship for West Virginia students has been established for the Marshall Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, the school announced in a release this week.

The Dr. Rodeen Rahbar Scholarship has been established at the School of Medicine by alumnus Rodeen Rahbar, M.D., to support incoming medical students from West Virginia, prioritizing support for those from Wheeling or Ohio County, West Virginia, followed by students from Fairmont or Marion County, and then any West Virginia resident.
Renewable for three years based on academic performance, it aids future doctors with ties to the region, the release states.
Rahbar, a Wheeling, West Virginia, native and 2001 graduate of the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, trained in general surgery and vascular surgery at Allegheny General Hospital and served as an assistant professor at George Washington University before entering private practice. Now president and chief of vascular surgery at Surgical Ƶsociates Chartered in Washington, D.C., he said he created the scholarship to support his alma mater.
ƵI want to do my part to contribute to the School of Medicine,Ƶ Rahbar said in the release.
