HUNTINGTON -- Lots of kids meet Santa, but few get a chance to talk to him while he's hard at work at the North Pole.
The Museum of Radio and Technology will make that happen with its "Get on the Air with Santa" event, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 9, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the museum, 1640 Florence Ave., Huntington.
For the seventh-consecutive year, the museum invites families and radio enthusiasts to join in the festivities and experience a unique opportunity for children to connect with Santa Claus via amateur radio. This special interaction allows kids to chat with Santa as he busily prepares for the upcoming Christmas season.
The event promises a day filled with entertainment for all ages, with highlights including free pizza courtesy of Marco's Pizza, hot dogs from Stewarts, a cookie-decorating station, crafts, games, and the chance to create lasting memories.
The Huntington Police Department will be on site completing child ID kits, ensuring the safety of the youngest members of the community.
Vintage gaming enthusiasts will appreciate the presence of classic video games such as the Atari-2600, Mattel Intellivision, and the iconic Donkey Kong arcade. Electronic toy aficionados will enjoy a nostalgic trip down memory lane with an impressive display of vintage electronic toys, including a captivating slot car track.
The event's organizer, Teresa Killen, expressed her enthusiasm for the growth of the "Get on the Air with Santa" event over the past seven years.
"It's incredible to see how the community has embraced this event, and we're thrilled to offer a day of joy and excitement for families during the holiday season," Killen said in a news release.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, two special guests will make an appearance òòò½ÊÓƵ“ Mrs. Claus and Santa's favorite Elf, Tinsel. Attendees can look forward to meeting these beloved characters and experiencing the magic of the holiday season.
The "Get on the Air with Santa" event is free and open to the public, encouraging families and individuals to come together and celebrate the spirit of the season.Â
