HARVEST OF FUN: All Stars 4 Jesus, the childrenƵs ministry program at Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, presents the event from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the Barboursville church. Dinner, games and crafts begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by Ƶtrunk-or-treatƵ at 6:30 p.m. in the church parking lot.
AWARDED: Craig Snyder and Pam Morris of Winfield High School received the 2023 Yale Educator Award. Nominated by WHS alum and Yate student, William Chen, the award recognizes educators worldwide inspiring and supporting students to achieve excellence.
TASTING TOUR: The C. Fred Edwards Conservatory Tasting Tour takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, as part of the fourth Tuesday Tour Series. The event also includes a Dia de los Muertos theme. Guests may sample foods produced by plants that are culturally important to Mexico and represented by the conservatory. Admission is free.
NEWBORNS: Two babies have been born into families at Madison Avenue Christian Church. Kasey and Brian Meadows became parents of a baby boy, Mason Wesley, Sept. 18. Weighing in at 9 pounds, 12 ounces, he was 22 inches long. This little one has a bigger brother, Oacar, and is grandson of Becky Collins. Amanda and Jordan Egnatoff also became parents Ƶ Aria Kate, weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long. Her big brother is Ƶher and is granddaughter of Jeff and Teri Rowe. Congratulations on these new ones and may they also be taught the ways of the Lord to walk in His footsteps.
PINK OUT: Mountwest Community and Technical College hosts its 11th annual Pink Out through Thursday, Oct. 26. The event, originally created to fund a scholarship honoring Karen S. Johnson, Mountwest employee 27 years and died in October 2011 after a long, hard-fought battle with breast cancer and then her daughter, Jennifer, dying from breast cancer. The event features opportunities for attendees to donate to the scholarship fund.
62: Even after entering the incorrect age for Jay JohnstonƵs birthday Ƶshout-outƵ on Oct. 21, he called me Ƶyoung lady.Ƶ I was so into trying to get him at the top of the column (where he is as a friend) that I made him a few years older. He certainly doesnƵt act or look his age of 62, often trying his hand at the game of golf, but not sure how he scores at that game. I feel blessed that he remains my friend and hope his birthday was a super duper one to match his personality.
COOKING: “Fork Nite,” children’s cooking class offered by Huntington’s Kitchen, takes place at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25. Children learn basic knife skills while making a Halloween-themed “Ghoul-ash.” The cost is $25. To register, contact 304-522-0887 or .
