FIRST: Karson Echard placed first in the Marshall University student category of the ninth annual Black History Poster Competition conducted at the Marshall University Visual Arts Center. He was one of 33 entries from MU and 29 entries from local schools. KarsonƵs poster featured Ƶa P. Randolph, American labor unionist and civil rights activist organizing and leading Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the first successful African American led labor union; Chris Smalls, co-founder/former president of Amazon Labor Union; Dorothy Bolden, founder of National Domestic WorkersƵ Union of America; and Alicia Garza, American civil rights activist and writer known for co-founding the Black Lives Matter movement. The competition was hosted by the Dr. Carter G. Woodson Lyceum, as part of Black History Month recognition. Keep up the good work.
