HUNTINGTON Ƶ The Brass Band of the Tri-State, under the direction of Dr. Michael Stroeher, who is also professor of low brass at Marshall University, will present its annual spring concert at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, in Smith Music Hall Recital Hall at Marshall.
Admission is free.
According to a release announcing the event, works to be performed include ƵAlso sprach Zarathustra,Ƶ ƵSomewhere Over the Rainbow,Ƶ ƵThe Great Escape,Ƶ ƵJurassic Park,Ƶ ƵMeditation Ƶ the Blessing,Ƶ ƵThe Pink Panther Theme,Ƶ ƵMonsters, Inc. (If I DidnƵt Have YouƵ),Ƶ ƵWallace and Grommit ThemeƵ and ƵBrassed Off.Ƶ
The ensemble performs a variety of music representing several styles and genres including traditional brass band music from England and North America, original pieces arranged specifically for the band, musicals, marches, orchestral transcriptions, Salvation Army Band music and popular selections, the release states. Each year they perform a fall concert, a Christmas concert, two spring concerts, and for the West Virginia SymphonyƵs annual Symphony Sunday in Charleston, on the first Sunday in June.
The brass bandƵs next performance will be for Ƶ Symphony Sunday on Sunday, June 1, at 2:55 p.m. on the lawn at the University of Charleston.
