HUNTINGTON Ƶ Fresh off of winning a big prize in the ice cream industry, AustinƵs at the Market is about to host its 4th annual Ice Cream For Breakfast event this weekend.
For over 40 years, AustinƵs Homemade Ice Cream has been a seasonal staple in Ceredo, where the company has been scooping up ice cream during the warmer months since 1983.
When The Market opened on 3rd Avenue in downtown Huntington in 2018, AustinƵs joined it to open a second, indoor location that serves up scoops year round.
Four years ago, AustinƵs at The Market created its first Ice Cream For Breakfast event, which not only features unique products for sale at a special opening time, but also serves as a fundraiser for Big Brother and Big Sisters of the Tri-State.
Ice Cream For Breakfast will take place from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at AustinƵs at The Market, 809 3rd Ave., Huntington. Several unique, one-day-only treats will be for sale, and 25% of the proceeds will go to the Big Sisters and Big Brothers of the Tri-State.
ƵWe decided to do our Ice Cream For Breakfast event in February because it is a part of the national ice cream holiday promoted by the North American Ice Cream Ƶsociation,Ƶ said Taylor Strickland Chambers, of the AustinƵs Ice Cream store family. ƵLuckily, we got in on the ground floor of the progress being made downtown, and that adds wonderfully to our Ceredo location seven miles down the road.Ƶ
What is fun about this gathering is the just-for-the-day recipes that will be available for purchase.
ƵUntil 2 p.m., we will feature waffle sundaes, donut ice cream sandwiches and more,Ƶ said Chambers. ƵWe will also be serving Cereal Killer Shakes, which are milkshakes that have various breakfast cereals blended into them. Ƶ for the special ice creams that we will feature, they will include strawberry Pop Tart, dairy-free apple and cinnamon oatmeal, Oops All Berries, Apple Jacks, and a cinnamon ice cream with the usual coffee, hot chocolate and donuts. And, at 9 a.m. on Saturday, many kids with their parents, and adults as well, will be lined up and ready to go.Ƶ
One of AustinƵs signature flavors just won a big ice cream industry award.
ƵThis past November, we won the Dairy Free Flavor of the Year Award,Ƶ said Chambers. ƵIt happened at National Ice Cream Ƶsociation convention that was held in Savannah, Georgia. And, throughout the year, we help organizations like the Hoops ChildrenƵs Family Hospital with a ƵScoops For HoopsƵ event.
ƵƵ for the 25% of the proceeds going to the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of the Tri-State charity, we have partnered up with them since the first time we did this event because, with this being an ice cream gathering that we know kids would enjoy, we wanted to help a charity here locally that would benefit children of all ages.Ƶ
