BARBOURSVILLE Ƶ Marshall Orthopaedics will host its annual Joints Jog, a 5K run and one-mile walk, 8 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Barboursville Park.
Participants can experience a scenic course through the parkƵs rolling hills with the race starting and finishing at Lake William, according to a Marshall Health Network release.
Awards will be given to runners and walkers in each of the following categories:
Top overall
17 and under
18-40
41-64
65 and older
Registration is $30 for runners and $25 for walkers. If people interested in participating register by April 15, they get a $5 discount. Registration includes a T-shirt and refreshments. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race beginning at 8 a.m.
ƵThe Joints Jog offers a fantastic opportunity in bringing the community together to support a cause so close to our hearts while promoting wellness and enjoying the beautiful nature of our city,Ƶ Andrew Murphy, M.D., a second-year orthopaedic surgery resident at the Marshall University Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and this yearƵs race co-coordinator, said in the release. ƵWeƵre excited to continue this tradition and look forward to another wonderful turnout.Ƶ
Each year, Marshall Orthopaedics selects a nonprofit organization to support through the resident physician-led race. This year, all proceeds will go to benefit Harmony House, a Huntington-based nonprofit that provides a range of services and support for individuals experiencing homelessness. Now in its 10th year, the Joints Jog has raised thousands of dollars for local nonprofits, the release states.
