Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce to host trade show
HUNTINGTON Ƶ The Huntington Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its 2023 Member Trade Show at the Mountain Health Arena Convention Center from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday.
Featuring 50 businesses, the expo-style evening will offer food, open bar, networking and prizes. General admission is $15 per person.
Ƶ a larger version of the ChamberƵs Business After Hours networking event, the Member Trade Show offers an opportunity for local businesses to promote their products and services while connecting with the community and fellow Chamber members. This yearƵs arcade and video game theme will be ƵLevel Up with the Chamber.Ƶ
Prizes include a general admission drawing for two season tickets to Marshall University menƵs basketball, a trivia game drawing for two season tickets to Marshall University womenƵs basketball, and a costume contest for four Marshall University football chair-back seat tickets to the Nov. 25 game vs. Arkansas State. Individual drawings from exhibitors will also be included.

UK cancer center earns national designation
LEXINGTON, Ky. Ƶ The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center has earned a National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center designation, the highest level of recognition awarded by the NCI.
There are currently 56 NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in the country. Markey is the first and only center in Kentucky to achieve this designation. Ƶ part of the Markey Cancer Center Affiliate and Research Networks, UK KingƵs Daughters patients in Ƶhland have access to new treatment options and high-priority clinical trials, and they get the benefit of MarkeyƵs guidance and support in their care while staying closer to home for treatment, according to UK.
KingƵs Daughters is one of 19 Markey affiliates and six research collaborators across Kentucky. The Ƶhland-based medical center serves eastern Kentucky, southern Ohio and western West Virginia.
KingƵs Daughters is composed of two acute-care hospitals totaling 465 licensed beds, an integrated network of more than 400 physicians and advanced practitioners, more than 80 ambulatory centers and practice locations, a long-term care facility, medical transport service, six urgent care centers, and a child development center.
In addition to achieving NCI Comprehensive designation, the UK Markey Cancer Center was awarded $13.5 million through a five-year renewal of its NCI Cancer Center Support Grant to support research programs, shared equipment, and resources.
EPIC record system wins Gold Star award
HUNTINGTON Ƶ Valley Health Systems has received eight Gold Star awards for implementing the Epic electronic health record system (EHR), the company announced in a news release.
Epic is a cloud-based EHR with a focus on patient engagement, facilitating remote care, and helping providers deliver the best patient care. The Epic EHR database system includes an extensive interactive patient portal, MyChart, which gives patients direct access to their records, appointment management, billing management, and more.
Epic recognizes organizations that have received eight, nine, or 10 gold stars every year. After only eight months on the Epic system, Valley Health received eight stars or higher recognition in 17 out of 26 categories.
