Organizations from throughout West Virginia will rally on Tuesday, Jan. 7, for the second Cover Ƶ Day. The day is dedicated to raising awareness about how to get health coverage and helping uninsured people in West Virginia find and enroll in health insurance.
More than 20 organizations will offer free assistance to people who need coverage. The West Virginia Primary Care Ƶsociation, the West Virginia Navigator Program, the West Virginia Office of the Insurance Commissioner, the Enrollment Ƶsistance Program and other nonprofit organizations and community health centers will offer more than 40 locations for the one-day event.
Each location will offer walk-in assistance from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for anyone who has questions about getting health insurance coverage. All locations will be staffed by certified assisters such as health insurance navigators, certified application counselors, or EAPs who are part of the Enrollment Ƶsistance Program. All assisters provide free help with Medicaid, CHIP and health insurance marketplace enrollments. The open enrollment period for the marketplace ends Jan. 15, so this will be an opportunity for people to get free help before the deadline.
A year after a panel blew out of a Boeing 737 Max during flight, the nationƵs top aviation regulator says the company needs to change its culture and put safety above profits.
Federal Aviation Administration chief Mike Whitaker made the comment in an online post Friday. Whitaker will step down as FAA administrator in two weeks. He says that his agency also has more work to do in its oversight of Boeing. It was Jan. 5 of last year when a door plug blew out of Boeing 737 Max flying over Oregon. That led to increased scrutiny of Boeing by regulators and Congress.
