ASHLAND Ƶ The outdoor concert Healing Appalachia, which in February announced it was moving to Kentucky for 2025, has announced its headliners.
Chris Stapleton and Tyler Childers, Ƶtwo sons of the Country Music Highway,Ƶ are coming home for the music festival, organizers announced Monday morning.
Healing Appalachia is an outdoor concert produced by Hope in the Hills, a West Virginia-based nonprofit that works to combat the opioid crisis and support recovery in Appalachia.
What began in 2018 as a concert for 1,500 music fans at the West Virginia State Fairgrounds quickly turned into a gathering of nearly 20,000 attendees from 42 states and three countries.
Healing Appalachia co-founder and show producer Charlie Hatcher originally envisioned the concert Ƶlike a Farm Aid that would move around Appalachia,Ƶ according to a news release.
In 2025, Healing Appalachia will take place Friday and Saturday, Sept. 19-20, on a mountaintop near the Boyd County Fairgrounds in Ƶhland.
The event was founded and is hosted by Childers, a Lawrence County, Kentucky, native, and his team at Whizzbang BAM.
Healing Appalachia, which occurs in September during National Recovery Month, has created an economic impact of more than $5 million.
